Dear Friends of FIELDS,
With immense pride and gratitude, I write to you as the founder, CEO and Creative Director of FIELDS, reflecting on a journey that began with a dream and has blossomed into a remarkable reality. This month, we celebrate a significant milestone—FIELDS turns five.
In the winter of 2019, upon returning from showcasing our upcoming collection at Pitti Uomo - the menswear showcase in Italy - our journey commenced with a humble yet significant step: launching our first collection online and in-store, opening our doors at The Old Biscuit Mill, Cape Town. I’ll never forget our first customer trying-on and loving her 1kg Sweater.
In early 2020, we partnered with Cape Town boutique Bastille | Maison Mara, our first stockist, which became our home away from home and allowed us to sit alongside the world’s best international brands. This partnership marked the significance of our commitment to craftsmanship of a global standard through local production, cementing the foundation for what FIELDS stands for today.
Our dedication to using natural fibres and sustainable practices was recognized in 2022 by TWYG, an acknowledgment that affirmed our mission and strengthened our resolve to uphold these values. This award was not just a testament to our efforts but a reminder of the impact we aspire to make in the fashion industry.
2023 brought an exciting new chapter as we expanded our presence by opening a second boutique at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town. This milestone not only signifies our persistent growth but also our unwavering dedication to connecting with a broader community of like minded style enthusiasts and conscious consumers.
Throughout these years, FIELDS has been more than just a menswear brand. We have enjoyed fostering a community that shares our vision and values. Our 14 proud collaborations with some of South Africa’s finest artists have been a celebration of creativity, each partnership bringing a unique story and perspective to our brand.
This journey can not be done alone, and I want to express my gratitude to all team members of FIELDS who have worked with us along the way.
Five years on, our commitment remains steadfast. We continue to create timeless, keep-forever garments for multifaceted men, using natural fibres that reflect our respect for both craftsmanship and sustainability. Our journey is far from over, and we look forward to the future with the same passion and dedication that brought us here.
