Origins

FIELDS was founded in 2019, by Mikael Hanan. FIELDS is for the multifaceted man, our pieces embrace nuanced masculinity. The brand is organised into three lines: Soul, encompassing contemplation, purity, connection, and integrity;Art, including impactful work, creativity, and leadership and; Outdoor, the tactile, the natural environment, and physicality.

We strive to be both environmentally and economically sustainable. Business decisions are made with a long-term view. Our designs are intended to be timeless - we do not believe in disposable trend-driven fashion, we aspire to create pieces that will last for decades.

Each season we collaborate with an artist from across Africa, translating their work into limited-edition jacquard knitwear pieces. By exhibiting the artists' works as clothing, we enable the wearers to profoundly express themselves and live in the art they so appreciate. FIELDS’ products are created to be collected over the years, to share in journeys from the home to the workspace, from the streets to the outdoors, and in cities across the world.

Sustainable Source of Supply

We take pride in partnering with specialist South African factories, that are responsibly run, uphold local craftsmanship, pay fairly and treat their employees with dignity. To us, it is important to us to facilitate and support the local garment industry. Our relationship with these factories is collaborative, and through continual meetings we seek to refine and perfect our pieces, improve quality and minimise wastage.

Crafted in sustainable, natural fibres sourced, woven and sewn throughout Southern Africa. We take pride in selecting the highest quality local textiles and have developed custom herringbone and twill weaves with a Cape Town mill. Our cotton is grown in sub-Saharan Africa and all of our woven cotton cloth is sourced from suppliers who are Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) certified - which means the farmers conserve natural habitats, minimise harmful pesticides and water waste, and ensure fair and safe working conditions for their employees. Our kid mohair and Merino wool are sourced in South Africa - all of our wool is Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) certified - this means that the sheep are ethically raised, mulesing-free, and graze on land that is progressively managed to protect soil health and biodiversity. Our wool is also standard 10 by OKEO-TEX certified, which guarantees the yarn is free of any harmful substances.

Garment Investment

We offer custom length alterations on all of our trousers. And we remain invested in FIELDS’ garments after they are sold, through our in-store repair service. Should you have an item in need of repair, please contact us. The garment damage will be assessed by our team to determine whether it is reparable.
