FIELDS' 12th Collection
Why do we hide? And from what?
The act of concealment, whether out of self-preservation, hesitation, or the simple comfort of anonymity, is an unspoken reality in how we move through life. FIELDS' 12th collection, Hiding In Plain Sight, examines this duality: the push and pull between stepping forward and retreating, between standing firm in one’s beliefs and choosing to remain unseen.
Today’s world is defined by sharp contrasts, extreme if you will; where conversations ignite tension, perspectives clash, and the middle ground is too often overlooked. This collection was born from a reflection on these divides. How do we listen, meet in the middle, and move forward together? And how does this sentiment translate into what we wear?
FIELDS explores these questions through the interplay of camouflage and uniformity, symbols of both assimilation and distinction. A uniform commands attention, yet it also signals belonging. Camouflage allows us to disappear, yet it is constructed to be noticed. This paradox shapes Hiding In Plain Sight, a collection designed for those who navigate life’s complexities with quiet confidence and intention.
This season, for our Artist Collaboration series, we proudly collaborate with South African artist Gabrielle Kruger, whose work further deepens this exploration. Renowned for challenging traditional painting techniques, Kruger blurs the boundaries between painting and sculpture by experimenting with acrylic paint as a versatile medium. Her work reimagines landscapes beyond the limits of simulation and reality, drawing attention to the malleability of the world around us. Her piece for FIELDS, The Winds Reveal, embodies the collection’s themes of presence and obscurity, offering a striking visual dialogue between art and wearability.
As always, FIELDS remains anchored in its ethos: “Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and right, there is a Field. I'll meet you there.” a quote by Rumi, we keep at the heart of all we do. In a time of much division, we look to the spaces in between, those sometimes hard-to-reach places where understanding, dialogue, and forward movement begin.
We look forward to showing you more of what’s to come.
